What you need to set up your account
It’s quick and easy—and free!— to set up your Renewal Reminder Account. Here is what you need in order to get started:
- Your own email address and/or mobile phone number
- Each account can only be associated with one email address and phone number (but you can add multiple names and driver's license expiry dates for each account, and receive reminders for all of them).
- An email provider/mobile company that will allow to receive reminder notifications
- The basic information for your registry services: the spelling of the last name your vehicle is registered to, the current expiry date of your driver's license, the month when your annual corporate return is due.
How to create a Renewal Reminder Account
Follow these easy steps to set up your account in just a few minutes:
- Go to reminders.e-registry.ca.
- Click the blue Sign Up Now button under New Customers on the left side of the screen
- Choose your registry office of choice. You can click the arrow beside “Choose a City” to get a list of registries for a particular city or town, or you can search for a registry using a postal code.
- Contact Methods: click the boxes beside the type(s) of reminders you would like to receive: Email, Text Message (SMS). You can choose one, or both!
- If you would like to receive reminders to renew your vehicle registration, click the box and provide the first and last name of the person who the vehicle is registered to. Handy hint: Make sure you put the first and last names in the correct spaces—this can affect when your reminders are sent.
- If you would like to receive company vehicle registration reminders, click the box and provide your company’s name. The name must match how it looks on your vehicle registration certificate. If you have a quarterly renewal schedule for a company vehicle, click the Quarterly Reminder box. You will receive a reminder at the beginning of each of your quarterly renewal months.
- If you would like to receive driver’s license/ID card reminders, click the box and provide the current expiry year and month for your license. You will need to update your account every time you renew your driver’s license. Jump to: How do I make changes to my account?
- If you would like to receive corporate annual return reminders, click the box and provide the company name and the filing month.
- If you would like to receive notices regarding other products and services recommended by your registry of choice, click the box under Additional Subscriptions.
- Click the box in the yellow section, to confirm you agree to receive email or text communication (for your reminders).
- Click Submit
You’re almost done!
Once you have submitted your information, you will receive an email or text message as a confirmation. You must follow the instructions in that message to activate your account. The message will expire, so act on it ASAP!
